ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention relates to a method of operating a self-stabilizing discharge lamp provided with a dis- charge tube which is filled with sodium and xenon. Accord- ing to the invention the discharge lamp is operated in such a manner that a sodium pressure is realized in its dis- charge space which pressure gives rise to a high luminous efficacy.
