A PALC panel is operated in response to a video signal (VIDEO in) according to which a nominal drive voltage V1 should be applied to a data drive electrode (12) on a first frame of the video signal and a nominal drive voltage V2 should big applied to the data drive electrode on a second frame of the video signal by applying an adjusted drive voltage (V1 + V offset) to the data drive electrode during the first frame and applying an adjusted drive voltage (-V2 + V offset) to the data drive electrode during the second frame.
