ABSTRACT A method of oxygen delignification of digested wood pulp in which oxygen and an alkali are mixed with the pulp at a temperature in the range 90 - 130°C in a first stage at above atmospheric pressure. In a second stage treatment the amount of oxygen is reduced, by addition of alkali, and the pressure is reduced continuously. In a third stage the temperature is dropped suddenly so as to condense the steam together with any turpentine present.
