Abstract of the Disclosure A method of passivating a Galvalume coated ferrous metal by treating with an aqueous, acidic homogeneous dispersion of a substituted amine having an alkyl chain of greater than about six carbon atoms. The substituted amine is stabilized as a homogeneous aqueous dispersion by the addition of a non-interfering acid to the aqueous solution. The preferred substituted amine is octadecylamine and the preferred acid is octadecylamine acetate.
