A process for producing phenylacetic acid is provided. The process includes combining sodium, chlorobenzene, toluene, and a catalyst to form a suspension. This suspension is mixed to form phenylsodium. Upon boiling, the suspension forms benzylsodium. The suspension is then carbonized and acidified to form phenylacetic acid.

L'invention concerne un procédé de production d'acide phénylacétique. Ce procédé consiste à combiner du sodium, du chlorobenzène, du toluène, et un catalyseur pour former une suspension. La suspension est mélangée pour former du phénylsodium et portée à ébullition pour former du benzylsodium. Enfin, la suspension est carbonisée et acidifiée afin que soit formé de l'acide phénylacétique.
