The present invention relates to a method of obtaining an additive for coatings that contains nanoparticles of one or more compounds, preferably metallic, selected in relation to the property that is desired to be transferred to the coating, which comprises a first pretreatment phase in which the water content of the active agent is reduced, replacing it with a vehicle compatible with the coating, and a second phase in which it is mixed with a resin compatible with the coating, a dispersant and a solvent, which are also compatible with it. The additive produced by this method contains nanoparticles of one or more compounds, preferably metallic, which become dispersed homogeneously in the coating once incorporated therein.
El aditivo de la presente invención esta diseñado para transferir a un recubrimiento final propiedades biocidas, protección UV, retardo a la flama, y en general, las propiedades seleccionadas inherentes a los metales y compuestos de Ag, Au, Cu, Mg, Zn, Bi, Sb, el aditivo incluye el uso de solventes, surfactantes, dispersantes y resinas que lo hacen compatible con el recubrimiento final. Dicho recubrimiento aditivado, garantiza una perfecta distribución y dispersión de las nanopartlculas en la totalidad de éste, sin necesidad de estar sujetas a un sustrato inorgánico. El proceso para la fabricación del aditivo parte de nanopartículas existentes de los metales y compuestos referidos, que pueden estar en medios acuosos, orgánicos o bien como polvos secos, siendo sometidas a un tratamiento que permite su integración a recubrimientos empleados en una amplia variedad de condiciones ambientales. El proceso es aplicable para la obtención de una variedad de aditivos f uncionalizados.
