ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A process for producing molded products in which a poly- phenylene ether-containing thermoplastic polymer and a synthetic rubber are chemically strongly bonded is described. The process comprises covulcanizing a polyphenylene ether-containing thermo- plastic molding compound layer and said synthetic rubber layer by heating the two layers in the presence of a vulcanizing system. the thermoplastic molding compound comprises a) 100 parts by weight of polymers of ortho-substituted phenols, b) 0-20 parts by weight polyalkenylenes, and, c) 0-100 parts by weight styrene polymers; and the synthetic rubber is a member selected from the group consisting of (1) SBR rubbers, (2) BR rubbers, (3) IR rubbers, (4) IIR rubbers, (5) mixtures of at least two of rubbers (1)-(4), and (6) mixtures of any one or more rubbers (1)-(5) partly substituted by CIIR rubbers, by NR rubber, by CR rubber or by NBR rubber.
