A B S T R A C T Reacting an aqueous nitric acid solution and a metal nitrite which is soluble in aqueous nitric acid results in a solution Or a pH value of less than 1, an acid equivalent Or from 6 to 10 millimole/ml and a nitrite contents of from 0.01 to 5 mg/ml. Additionall ,the solu- tion preferably contains acetic acid, oxalic acid and lactic acid as well as copper and cadmium ions. For the preferred composition, the preparation takes ?lace by mixing the components and letting them react to the end or by an oxidative method, in the course of which nitrous acid is formed. The composition is suitable for the local treatment Or superficial lesions of the skin and mucous membranes in the fields Or cosmetic and medicine, parti- cularly for certain malignant tumors. Experimentally, the effectiveness can be checked by two biological tests developped for this purpose.
