Abstract of the Disclosure A method of preparing a copper complex to be used in eliminating the growth of aquatic or marine plant life, such as algae. The copper complex is formed by reacting finely divided water-insoluble copper carbonate with a complexing material, which comprises a combination of monoethanolamine and triethanol- amine. The copper carbonate is solubilized and complexed by the material to provide a copper complex having improved stab- ility and containing an increased amount of elemental copper as compared to copper complexes formed by prior methods, thereby making the complex more effective as an algaecide.
