ABSTRACT METHOD OF PREPARING A PUMPABLE SLURRY The invention provides a method of preparing a pumpable slurry of fibrous lignocellulosic material and water which comprises passing particles of fibrous lignocellulosic material into a mixing chamber and heating together with water at a temperature in the range 100 to 300°C and at a pressure which is above the vapour pressure of water at that temperature, and passing the resulting mixture through a restricted opening under pressure. The pumpable slurry may be readily passed through a pipeline for further processing as a feedstock or for use in preparing moulded products.
