Abstract of the Disclosure An efficient method of preparing asbestos-cement sheets which have at least substantially reduced asbestos content and consequently reduced fire hazard, characterized in that a dry mixture of a particulate inorganic material, a hydraulic binder, and a minor amount of organic thermosetting binder is ground in a ball mill until the particulate inorganic material has acquired a desired degree of disintegration and the components have been homogeneously distributed, on which the mixture is subjected to heat treatment under compression to the desired sheet form and the formed self-supporting sheet product is treated with water to set and cure the hydraulic binder.
