.alpha.-L-aspartyl-L-phenylalanine methyl ester or its hydrochloride salt is isolated from an aqueous sus- pension of same, by subjecting the aqueous suspension to a continuous vacuum filtration. The method of the inven- tion enables the amount and/or size of necessary plant equipment to be reduced as compared with batchwise sepa- ration and the whole operation for the separation to be simplified, while allowing for an improved yield of product having higher purity.
