A method for preparing a gas turbine engine for a ferry flight, where the engine has a core gas turbine engine (13), a spinner (25), and a plurality of external fan blades (24) powered by the core gas turbine engine (13). The core gas turbine engine (13) has an annular splitter (34) for directing a portion (50) of incoming airflow into the core gas turbine engine (13). The method comprises the steps of: a) removing the spinner (25); b) removing the fan blades (24); and c) securing a fairing (80) in sealing engagement with the core gas turbine engine (13).
