ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method for preparing cement clinker from a mineral raw material capable of releasing calorific energy in a plant comprising a rotary clinkerization kiln associated with a clinker cooler, an exchanger column including a plurality of superimposed exchanger cyclones and an exchanger precalcinator and a raw material treating column including from top to bottom, first, second, third and fourth treating cyclones and a treating calcinator. The method comprising feeding the exchanger column only with additive substances adapted to be used in combination with the raw material for making the clinker, partially decar- bonating the additive substance in the exchanger column, and introducing into the exchanger column the gases issuing from the cooler; feeding the treating column with the raw material; feeding gases issuing from the kiln and the treating calcinator into the third treating cyclone; effecting calcination of the raw material in the treating column; feeding fumes from the third treating cyclone into the first treating cyclone; and feeding cool air into the second and fourth treating cyclones; wherein two dust recirculation circuits are formed in the treating column, the first being between the first and second treating cyclones and the second being between the third and fourth treating cyclones. A plant for effecting this method is also disclosed.
