Abstract of the Disclosure Sterol glycosides for use as styptics and blood-reinforcing agents are extracted from plants using the precipitation reaction of sterol glyco- sides with carbonates or inorganic salts having a similar effect. In par- ticular, the residue from plant oil extraction processes is heated and decomposed in methanol in the presence of an alkali and a carbonate or suitable inorganic salt is added thereto, followed by heating to selectively precipit- ate sterol glycosides and carbonate.
