The present invention is related to a method of preserving plywood, particle board and similar wood composite products made from wood pieces/particles and a binder used to adhere such wood pieces/particle together against rot and mould decay. According to the invention, the preservative of the wood material is a complexing agent which is capable of binding transition group metals and is admixed into the binder used in the manufacture of said wood composite products prior to the formation of said product. The invention also concerns a binder composition, which contains a polymer resin as its adhesive component and a complexing agent, particularly an aminotetracarboxylic acid or a salt thereof, by approx. 1-30 wt.-% as the preservative of the wood material, and a method of producing said binder composition. Tests performed on faced plywood indicated that a water-soluble, environmentally safe complexing agent offers a white rot resistance which is superior to conventional preservatives commonly used today.
a présente invention concerne une méthode pour protéger contre la pourriture et la moisissure le contreplaqué, les panneaux de particules et autres produits composites du bois semblables faits de morceaux/particules de bois et d'un liant pour faire adhérer ensemble ces morceaux/particules de bois. L'agent de préservation de la matière ligneuse décrit dans la présente invention est un agent complexant qui est capable de lier des métaux du groupe de transition; il est mélangé au liant utilisé dans la fabrication desdits produits composites du bois avant leur formation. L'invention porte également sur une composition de liant, qui contient une résine polymérique comme élément adhésif et un agent complexant, en particulier un acide aminotétracarboxylique ou l'un de ses sels, à raison d'environ 1-30 % en poids comme agent de préservation de la matière ligneuse ainsi que sur une méthode pour la production de la composition de liant. Des essais réalisés sur du contreplaqué revêtu ont indiqué que l'agent complexant hydrosoluble et sans danger pour l'environnement offre une résistance à la pourriture blanche qui est supérieure à celle que procure les agents de préservation traditionnels utilisés actuellement.
