An apparatus is disclosed for preventing separation in bulk material in connection with transfer and/or transport of such material. The apparatus includes at least one compartment or tube which is open straight through and through which the material is caused to flow when it is loaded onto a substructure. The material is delimited to what can be likened to pillars, which are caused to flow through an array of mutually adjacent compartments or tubes arranged inside the tube.
