ABSTRACT Processing a light-sensitive silver halide photographic material comprising a support and, provided thereon, at least one silver halide emulsion layer containing silver halide grains which are sensitized with a sensitizing dye represented by general formula [l]; [1] Image (wherein, Z1 and Z2 independently represent a group of atoms necessary to complete a heterocyclic ring selected from the group consisting of a thiazole, a benzothiazole, a naphthothiazole, a selenezole, a benzoselenazole, a naphthoselenazole, a benzimidazole, a naphthoimidazole, a pyridine and a quinoline ring, provided that Z1 and Z2 are not simultaneously a naphthothiazole, a naphthoselenezole or a quinoline ring; R1 and R2 are independently selected from the group consisting of an alkyl group, an alkenyl group or an aryl group; R3 is selected from a group consisting of hydrogen atom, a methyl group and an ethyl group; X1 is an anion and 1 is 0 or 1). Processing of this photographic material is carried out with a color developer solution containing an aromatic primary amine color developing agent and at least one compound represented by general formula [II] or a water soluble acid salt thereof: [II] Image (wherein, R4 and R5 independently represent an alkyl group). This method prevents dye stains which may be produced by spectral sensitizers even under the conditions of a rapid development process.
