ABSTRACT In order to process residual materials that are generated during reconstruction or the removal of roofing materials with bituminous sealing properties, the roofing materials that are stripped off are reduced in a shredder to a size of 6 to 20 mm and the granulate is divided into fractions in a wind sifter. The light fraction, which contains only insulating materials, is compacted and re-processed into new insulating materials by the manufacturer of such insulating materials. The heavy, bituminous fraction, which contains at most 5% insulating materials is ground to a grain size of 0.5 to 2.0 mm and has conventional fillers added to it and is then used to manufacture bituminous masses.
