ABSTRACT 2,6-Dimethyl-3,5-bis-(1-adamantyloxy- carbonyl)-4-(2-difluoromethoxyphenyl)-1,4-dihydropyridine of the formula: Image is prepared by reacting 1-hydroxyadamantane with diketene in an organic solvent in the presence of an alkali organic catalyst to obtain 1-adamantyl ester of acetoacetic acid which is either condensed with 2- difluoromethoxybenzaldehyde and ammonia in an organic solvent or treated with gaseous ammonia to obtain 1- adamantyl ester of .beta.-aminocrotonic acid, and the latter ester is then condensed with 2-difluoromethoxybenzal- dehyde in an organic solvent to obtain the desired product which is isolated. The compound of the invention possesses an antianginal activity with a wide range of therapeutic action, features a low toxicity, causes no side effects and is stable in storage.
