ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method of producing 6-.beta.-amidinopenicillanic acid derivatives of the general formula Image where R1 and R2 are identical or different aliphatic hydrocarbons, R1 and R2 together with the nitrogen atom being capable of form- ing a heterocyclic system; R3 = H, alkyl, or aralkyl; the method residing in that esters of 6-aminopenicillanic acid of the general formula Image where R3 is alkyl or aralkyl, are subjected to condensation with secondary amines of the formula Image where R1 and R2 are identical or different, selected from the group consisting of aliphatic hydrocarbons with a non-branched chain, R1 and R2 to- gether with the nitrogen atom being capable of forming a hetero- cyclic system, said condensation being performed in the presence of orthoformates or orthothioformates, in an organic solvent at a temperature from -5°C to +30°C with subsequent isolation of the desired product. The proposed method allows the production of said derivates of 6-.beta.-amidinopenicillanic acid in one stage, thus simplifying the technology as compared with the prior art methods.
