A method of forming a lyophilized liposome product by combining a lipid with an aqueous solution containing a drying protectant, without adding organic solvent, agitating the mixture to form a population of liposomes and then lyophilizing the mixture to form a lyophilized liposome product. The invention is also directed to the lyophilized products obtained by the method, and to liposomes prepared by reconstituting the lyophilized product. The lyophilization step may be carried out at higher drying temperatures resulting in, inter alia, a more cost effective process.
Méthode pour la formation d'un produit de liposome lyophilisé par la combinaison d'un lipide avec une solution aqueuse contenant un agent siccatif protecteur, sans addition de solvant organique, par l'agitation du mélange de façon à former une population de liposomes et par la lyophilisation du mélange de façon à former un produit de liposome lyophilisé. Cette invention porte aussi sur les produits lyophilisés obtenus par cette méthode, ainsi que sur les liposomes préparés par la reconstitution du produit lyophilisé. On peut effectuer l'étape de la lyophilisation à des températures de séchage plus élevées, ce qui, entre autres choses, améliore la rentabilité du procédé.
