ABSTRACT Method of producing alcohols with 2 to 4 C atoms by catalytic hydration of the corresponding olefins over acid catalysts at high temperature and high pressure, characterized in that before the initial product enters the reactor side products of hydration, namely corresponding ethers and/or low-polymerized hydrocarbons and/or undesired alcohols which are formed before the initial product passes through the bed of catalysts are added to said initial product. By the present method, further development of the undesired alcohols and low-polymerized hydrocarbons is suppressed and the yields of the desired alcohols are increased.
