A process for producing an alicyclic epoxy compound represented by the formula (II) which comprises epoxidizing an alicyclic olefin compound represented by the formula (I) with an aliphatic peroxycarboxylic acid having a water content of 2 wt.% or lower; and a resin composition containing the compound represented by the formula (II). (In the formulae, X is a divalent atom or group such as -O-, -S-, -SO-, -SO2-, -CH2-, -C(CH3)2-, -CBr-, -C(CBr3)2-, - C(CF3)2-, -C(CCl3)2-, or -CH(C6H5)-, or a single bond; and R1 to R18 are the same or different and each represents hydrogen, halogeno, a hydrocarbon group optionally containing one or more oxygen or halogen atoms, or optionally substituted alkoxy.) L'invention concerne un procédé de fabrication de composé époxy alicyclique représenté par la formule (II), qui consiste à époxyder un composé d'oléfine alicyclique représenté par la formule (I), avec un acide peroxycarboxylique aliphatique à teneur en eau égale ou inférieure à 2 %, en poids. L'invention concerne également une composition de résine renfermant le composé de formule (II). Dans lesdites formules, X est un atome bivalent ou un groupe du type -O-, -S-, -SO-, -SO¿2?-, -CH¿2?-, -C(CH¿3?)¿2?-, -CBr-, -C(CBr¿3?)¿2?-, -C(CF¿3?)¿2?-, -C(CCl¿3?)¿2?-, ou -CH(C¿6?H¿5?)-, ou une liaison unique; et R?1¿ à R?18¿ sont identiques ou différents, représentant chacun hydrogène, halogéno, un groupe hydrocarbure comportant éventuellement un ou plusieurs atomes d'oxygène ou atomes halogènes, ou alcoxy éventuellement substitué.
