Abstract of the Disclosure. This invention relates to the production of a forming tool comprising a mould or part which is formed on a master surface and separating the tool from the latter, in which a relatively malleable metal is deposited as a relatively thin metal layer on the master surface such that that side of this layer which faces the master surface will assume the shape and structure of the latter, whereupon on this layer at least another layer of a relatively durable metal is deposited and bonded for forming a metal shell. A backing material is bonded on the shell and the shell and the backing material are separated as a unit from the master surface and used as the mould or forming part of the tool.
