ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method of producing cellular ceramic building materials from SiO2-containing starting materials is disclosed according to which method at least the bottom of a refractory mould is covered with a first layer of a glass material or a glass forming composition which does not expand when heated and which has a melting point of 800 - 1200°C, whereafter the- SiO2-containing starting material used for producing the cellular ceramic is applied in the form of a second layer on the first layer in the mould, whereafter the mould and its contents are heated under strongly ???diging conditions to 800 - 1000°C for a period of time of such duration that the ceramic starting material and the glass material sinter together and the ceramic starting material obtains a porous structure. - 1 -
