ABSTRACT A method of producing viscous oils from reser- voirs containing unconsolidated or friable sands com- prising drilling the well, stimulating same with steam at a pressure sufficient to fracture the reservoir adjacent the well, shutting in the well, installing a gravel pack, producing oil from the well, and periodically, subse- quently stimulating the well by injecting steam at a pres- sure below that which would result in a fracture of the reservoir.
