The invention provides a method of regenerating pancreas function in an individual by transplantation of an effective amount of functional pancreatic cells derived from embryonic pancreatic cells not older than 10 weeks of development. Also provided is the method of producing functional animal pancreatic cell, more precisely an immortalized human beta cell line. The invention also provides a method of treatment of diabetics. Also are provided pancreatic beta cells as a medicament to treat diabetics.

L'invention concerne un procédé destiné à régénérer la fonction du pancréas chez un individu par transplantation d'une quantité efficace de cellules pancréatiques fonctionnelles dérivées de cellules pancréatiques embryonnaires n'ayant pas plus de dix semaines de développement. L'invention concerne également un procédé de production d'une cellule pancréatique animale fonctionnelle, plus précisément, une lignée cellulaire bêta humaine immortalisée. Cette invention concerne enfin un procédé de traitement des diabétiques et des cellules bêta pancréatiques utilisées en tant que médicament pour traiter ces diabétiques.
