The invention relates to a method of producing polyamides in an aqueous reaction mixture that contains a nitrile, selected from 6-aminocapronitrile and adipodinitrile. The inventive method is characterized by using a nitrile through which, in its liquid state, a gas that is inert with respect to the nitrile, was led.
