23260-408 ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method of producing polymer-bonded explosive bodies including crystalline explosives ground to a narrow particle distribution is disclosed. The crystalline explosive is ground suspended in a flegmatization and grinding liquid including at least a part of the polymer binder. The method reduces the amount of water which has to be driven off prior to the final forming of the explosive body and, in some embodiments, may even eliminate the drying of the explosive prior to the final forming. The process according to the invention is also safer than processes known in the prior art in that the part of the binder included into the grinding liquid acts as a flegmatization agent during the whole process of the preparation of the explosive body.
