A molten metal is divided into droplets by atomization with an inert gas and the droplets are further divided into finer particles by impingement on a rotating disk and drum combination, or a rotating roll and disk combination or a combination of rotating rolls, and the finer particles are contacted by a coolant such that they are rapidly cooled to solidify. The method is capable of mass production of high-quality powders of uniform particle size at reduced cost and is particularly adapted for the manufacture of amorphous alloy powders having the desired properties.
Un métal fondu est divisé en gouttelettes par pulvérisation avec un gaz inerte et les gouttelettes sont ensuite divisées à nouveau en particules plus fines par projection sur une combinaison de disques et tambours tournants, ou une combinaison de rouleaux et disquex tournants ou une combinaison de rouleaux tournants, et les particules plus fines sont mises en contact avec un réfrigérant qui les refroidit rapidement et les solidifie. La méthode permet la production en masse à coût réduit de poudres de grande qualité à dimension uniforme des particules convenant à la fabrication de poudres d'alliage amorphes ayant les caractéristiques souhaitées.
