IMPROVED CHAIR MAT AND METHOD OF PRODUCING THE FRICTION SURFACE FOR SAME AND LIKE PRODUCTS Abstract Of The Disclosure A plastic chair mat of the type used to protect. a tufted carpet from wear having a friction surface for gripping said carpet so that there is no relative movement between the chair mat and the carpet. The method proposed herein for providing said friction surface contemplates heating a plastic panel to cause its expansion against a pattern plate, the pattern of which consists of openings therein, such that areas of said plastic panel coextensive with said pattern plate openings expand into the same, and thus effectively serve as carpet- gripping structure when solidified.
