Human hepatocytes are transplanted into the liver of a mouse suffering from immunodeficient hepatopathy and then the mouse carrying the human hepatocytes transplanted therein is fed under such conditions as being protected from the attack by a human complement produced by the human hepatocytes. Thus, the transplanted human hepatocytes are proliferated on a mass scale in the mouse liver. By repeating the above procedure with the use of the human hepatocytes thus proliferated, human hepatocytes are obtained in a large amount.
