A method of producing liquid from a well. A first step involves installing a tubing string in a well by securing a lower end of the tubing string via a telescopic connector to a pump tubing anchor positioned down the well. The telescopic connector allows a predetermined axial reciprocating pumping stroke of the tubing string relative to the pump tubing anchor. A second step involves positioning an hydraulic pump jack that has a reciprocating hollow piston rod at the top of the well. A third step involves securing an upper end of the tubing string within the hollow piston rod of the hydraulic pump jack. The reciprocating movement of the hollow piston rod serves to reciprocally move the tubing string through the reciprocating pumping stroke.
