The invention relates to a method of radially expanding a tubular element (4) extending into a wellbore (1) formed in an earth formation (2), the tubular element including a first layer (12) and a second layer (14) extending around the first layer, said layers being separable from each other. The method comprises inducing each layer to bend radially outward and in axially reverse direction so as to form an expanded tubular section extending around a remaining tubular section of the tubular element, wherein each layer has a respective bending zone in which said bending occurs, and increasing the length of the expanded tubular section by inducing the respective bending zones of the layers to move in axial direction relative to the remaining tubular section. Said layers in the respective bending zones are separate from each other so as to define an axial space between the layers.

L'invention porte sur un procédé d'extension radiale d'un élément tubulaire (4) s'étendant dans un puits de forage (1) formé dans une formation terrestre (2), l'élément tubulaire comprenant une première couche (12) et une deuxième couche (14) s'étendant autour de la première couche, lesdites couches pouvant être séparées l'une de l'autre. Le procédé comprend les opérations consistant à induire chaque couche à s'incurver radialement vers l'extérieur et dans une direction axialement inverse de façon à former une section tubulaire étendue s'étendant autour d'une section tubulaire restante de l'élément tubulaire, chaque couche comportant une zone de courbure respective dans laquelle se produit ladite courbure, et à augmenter la longueur de la section tubulaire étendue par induction des zones de courbure respectives des couches de façon à se déplacer dans une direction axiale par rapport à la section tubulaire restante. Lesdites couches dans les zones de courbure respectives sont séparées entre elles de façon à définir un espace axial entre les couches.
