A method of producing mature fish using an algal turf as feedstock. The method consists of first growing an algal turf in a growth reservoir (10) while subjecting the turf to an oscillatory water surge; severing the algal turf from its growing surface and transferring the severed algal turf to a second vessel (20) containing young fish. In an optional embodiment, water enriched in oxygen may be removed from the growth reservoir and recycled to the second vessel (20). Further, at least a portion of the metabolic and respiratory waste products of the fish may be transferred to a growth reservoir containing algal turf.

L'invention concerne un procédé permettant d'obtenir des poissons matures au moyen d'un gazon algal utilisé comme matière d'alimentation. Ledit procédé consiste à tout d'abord faire pousser un gazon algal dans un réservoir de croissance (10), tout en soumettant ledit gazon à un mouvement d'eau oscillatoire, puis à séparer le gazon algal de sa surface de croissance et à transférer ce gazon séparé à une seconde cuve (20) contenant de jeunes poissons. Dans un autre mode de réalisation, de l'eau enrichie en oxygène peut être retirée du réservoir de croissance et réintroduite dans la seconde cuve (20). En outre, au moins une partie des rejets métaboliques et respiratoires des poissons peuvent être transférés à un réservoir de croissance contenant du gazon algal.
