The invention relates to a method and arrangement for rapidly controlling the frequency of a radio-receiver which receives signal sequences that have been subjected to interference and which includes a synchronizing sequence and a data sequence. The signal sequence is converted in an A/D-converter to provide signal points (ET) which are intended for analysis, and a Viterbi-algorithm is adapted with the aid of adaptation signals obtained from the synchronizing sequence of the prevailing interference. The data sequence is Viterbi- analyzed through a large number of calculating stages, for the purpose of determining the bit sequence (S1) of the data sequence. The signal-point (ET) is branched-up to branch- signal points (ET), the number of which is equal to the number of states of the Viterbi-algorithm. Each individual branch-signal point is phase-shifted to a corrected signal point (ET,1), and is compared with its adaptation signal, which has (K) separate signal points. Distances (.DELTA.ST,1K) and angular deviations (.DELTA..PHI.T,1K) are calculated between the corrected signal point and the adaptation signal (U1K) signal points. A transition (K1) is selected through the Viterbi- algorithm, with the aid of the distances (.DELTA.ST,1K) and the angular deviation (.DELTA..PHI.T,1K), corresponding thereto is selected. Selected angular deviations (.DELTA..PHI.T,1K), for successive incoming signal points (ET) are low-pass filtered and integrated to form a phase correction signal (V) through which the phase of the successively incoming branch-signal points (ET) are shifted. Corresponding phase correction signals are calculated for the remaining states of the Viterbi-algorithm.
