ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method of recovering gold from anode slimes result- ing from electrolytic copper refining comprises treating the anode slimes to remove copper and selenium, forming an aqueous slurry from the treated slimes, blowing chlorine gas into the aqueous slurry to dissolve the gold therein, and separating the so-dissolved gold from the residue.
