ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This invention relates to a method of recovering in activated form the catalyst used in the terephthalic acid synthesis. The catalyst is recovered from the dehydrated mother liquor of the terephthalic acid synthesis, after evaporation of an amount of from 70 to 90 % of the CH3COOH present therein. The present process includes cooling below 60 °C the anhydrified concentrated liquor, separating and recycling the solid phase which is so caused to precipitate, by extracting with H2O in the presence of particular coadjuvants (for example isobutyl acetate) and recycling the extract to the terephthalic synthesis.
