ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Method of recovering elastic clips used for fastening railroad rails, which comprises the stages of: 1. Recovery itself: first a cleaning, to remove oil andgrease; then the clips are classified according to the measurement of distance (C) between the legs (2 & 3) of the clips, of displacement (H) between the extremities (4 & 5) of the legs and of inclination of ( .alpha. ) of the legs in regard to the vertical axis of the clip, being then annealed in order to remove the effects of thermic treatments or tensions due to mechanical stresses which they suffered in gettingdistorted. 2. Gauging: first step is heating the clip to a temperature that renders it malleable; then it is pre-gauged to the measure of distance (C) between the legs, being the clip afterwards gauged into its initial design condition; 3. Thermic treatment, whereby the clip receives a hardening to improve its mechanical properties, followed by a surface hardening to relieve stresses; 4. Finishing, which is a preparation for painting, through a cleaning by mechanical scraping; a cold distortion - called pre-load - that sets the displacement (H) between the extremities of the legs in such a measure that, when the clip is assembled, it presents an ideal load for fastening of the rail; and finally, phosphatization and painting proper.
