An improved method is disclosed for processing aluminum dross containing fluxing salts to provide a fired inorganic or ceramic product wherein the dross is processed to remove the fluxing salts therefrom, and a non-metallic product is recovered. The dross is processed through a crusher and the reduced fragments are classified by passing over a screen. A portion of the classified material is fed into a digester and a wet screen is used to screen the digested material. A portion of the screened material is sent to a dryer, passed through a dry screen and fed to a furnace. The improved process comprises mixing the non-metallic product with water and alkali materials to form a slurry and adding acid to neutralize the slurry. The slurry is adjusted by adding one of silica and alumina and the slurry is heated to form a fired product.
Procédé amélioré de traitement d'écume d'aluminium contenant des fondants sous forme de sels permettant d'obtenir un produit céramique ou inorganique cuit, selon lequel on traite l'écume de manière à en éliminer les fondants sous forme de sels et on récupère un produit non métallique. L'écume est introduite dans un broyeur (10) et les fragments réduits (10a) sont triés par passage sur un crible (12). Une partie du matériau trié est introduit dans une autoclave (14) et un crible de séparation par voie humide (16) est utilisé pour cribler le matériau digéré. Une partie du matériau criblé est envoyé vers un séchoir (18), passé à travers un crible à sec (20) et introduit dans un four (22). Ledit procédé amélioré consiste à mélanger le produit non métallique avec de l'eau et des matériaux alcalins pour former une boue et à ajouter de l'acide pour neutraliser ladite boue. Cette boue est corrigée par l'ajout de silice ou d'oxyde d'aluminium et elle est chauffée pour former un produit cuit.
