A method of reducing delayed onset muscle soreness in mammals such as humans and horses, such as the pain resulting from unaccustomed exercise, is disclosed. An affected body portion of the human is covered with a radiation-shielding textile, whether by fashioning a garment from the textile or using a sheet or cover, or fashioning a wrap. The radiation-shielding textile found to be suitable is a cloth woven of yarn consisting of a textile fibre, such as nylon, and from two to thirty- five percent by weight of conductive metal filament, preferably stainless steel.
