A method of reducing methanol usage in a gas well involves providing a control link between a control valve with actuator used to control a flow of gas from the gas well and a fuel supply to a methanol pump used to pump methanol into the gas well. When the control valve with actuator is shut to stop the flow of gas from the gas well, the fuel supply to the methanol pump is also shut to stop the methanol pump from continuing to pump methanol into the gas well.
