Z0021 was identified as a gene with-in the O-Island 1(OI-1) genomic island of verocyto-toxin-producing E coli O157 H7 The gene nega-tively regulates swimming motility and this de-creased motility is the result of a reduction in sur-face expression of flagella. Overexpression of Z0021 suppresses the motility and surface expres-sion of flagella in E coli O157 H7, as well as in other Enterobacteriaceae including E coli K12 and S typhimurium SL1344 Disclosed is a method of reducing motility in bacterium by increasing the level of the peptide having the ammo acid sequence as set forth in SEQ ID No 2 which is encoded by the Z0021 gene having the nucleotide sequence as set forth in SEQ ID No 1
La présente invention a identifié que Z0021 est un gène dans l'îlot génomique O-Island 1 (OI-1) de E. coli O157:H7 productrice de vérocytotoxine. Le gène régule à la baisse la motilité de nage, et cette diminution de la motilité résulte d'une diminution de l'expression de surface de flagelle. Une surexpression de Z0021 supprime la motilité et l'expression de surface de flagelle dans E. coli O157:H7 et dans d'autres entérobactériacées comprenant E. coli K12 et S. typhimurium SL1344. L'invention concerne un procédé permettant de réduire la motilité dans une bactérie par augmentation du niveau du peptide présentant la séquence d'acides aminés telle que définie dans SEQ ID No:2 qui est codée par le gène Z0021 comportant la séquence nucléotidique définie dans SEQ ID No: 1.
