A method is disclosed of forming a seal between two or more non-porous substrates by adding an oximosilicon compound to a prepared room-temperature-vulcanizable silicone sealant composition which is comprised of an alkoxy ended polydiorganosiloxane, a crosslinker having silicon-bonded methoxy or ethoxy, a filler, a titanate catalyst, and by-produced methanol or ethanol that is obtained during the manufacture of the silicone sealant composition, applying the sealant composition, to at least two non-porous substrates forming an assembly of an uncured sealant composition bonding them together, subjecting the assembly to conditions which would ordinarily formdetrimental bubbles if the oximosilicon compound were not present, and completely curing the composition to form an assembly of at least two non-poroussubstrates bonded by cured sealant that is essentially free of detrimental bubbles. Such a method is valuable in forming gaskets which are used in the internal combustion engine industry.

Une méthode est divulguée pour former un joint étanche entre deux substrats non poreux ou plus en ajoutant un oximosilicium à une composition préparée de scellement à la silicone vulcanisable à la température de la pièce qui est constituée d'un polydiorganosiloxane terminé par un alcoxy, un agent de réticulation comportant un groupement méthoxy ou éthoxy lié au silicium, une charge, un catalyseur au titanate et du méthanol ou de l'éthanol comme sous-produit, qui est obtenu au cours de la fabrication de la composition de scellement à la silicone, en appliquant la composition de scellement à au moins deux substrats non poreux formant un assemblage d'une composition de scellement non durcie les liant ensemble, en exposant l'assemblage à des conditions qui entraîneraient normalement la formation de bulles nuisibles si l'oximosilicium n'était pas présent, et en laissant durcir complètement la composition pour former un assemblage d'au moins deux substrats non poreux liés par un agent de scellement durci qui est essentiellement exempt de bulles nuisibles. Une telle méthode est utile pour former des joints d'étanchéité utilisés dans l'industrie des moteurs à combustion interne.
