A method of reducing the kilowatt demand of domestic hot water heaters during peak hour periods without reducing the amount of water requested by a user, while maintaining the desired water temperature, is described. The method comprises providing three resistive heating elements in the hot water tank, one in the upper region, one in the middle region and one at the bottom of the water tank. The bottom resisting heating element has a wattage rating which is at least five times inferior than that of the upper and middle resistive heating elements. The bottom resistive heating element is energized to heat water to a required temperature when small draws of water, below 100 liters, are demanded by a user. The upper resistive heating element is energized during large draws of water, and then a control circuit switches the middle or bottom heating element to complete the heating cycle for large draws.
La présente décrit une méthode de réduction de la demande de kilowatts par les chauffe-eau domestiques pendant les périodes de pointe, sans réduire la quantité d'eau demandée par un utilisateur, tout en maintenant la température souhaitée. La méthode consiste à installer trois éléments chauffants résistifs dans le réservoir d'eau chaude : un dans la région supérieure, un dans la région médiane et le dernier au fond du réservoir d'eau.
