IMPROVED METHOD OF REFINING COAL BY SHORT RESIDENCE TIME HYDRODISPROPORTIONATION Abstract This invention generally relates to short residence time decomposition and volatilization of coal to produce liquid co-products while minimizing production of char and gas without utilization of external hydrogen, that is, hydrogen other than that contained in the coal feedstock. The invention more particularly relates to an improved method of economically producing uniform, fluidic, oil- type transportable fuel systems and fuel compositions and a slate of "value-added" co-products by a coal refining process employing short residence time hydrodispropor- tionation (SRT-HDP). In another embodiment, a partial li- quefaction process is provided using higher pressures for decomposition and volatilization and gasification of part of the char for Fischer Tropsch synthesis to produce transportation fuels.
