Methods and compositions capable of controlling weight in an animal, preferably a human, which methods involve administering diet compositions that modulate, and preferably reduce, synthesis and secretion of neuropeptide Y (NPY) and modulate, and preferably increase synthesis and secretion of growth hormone releasing factor (GRF), compared to pre-administration amounts in the animal. The administration of such diet compositions results in a reduced appetite and a regulated metabolism that enhance weight control, including weight loss and reduction of obesity.

L'invention concerne des méthodes et des compositions permettant de contrôler le poids d'un animal, de préférence un humain. Les méthodes de cette invention consistent à administrer des compositions diététiques destinées à moduler, et de préférence à réduire, la synthèse et la sécrétion du neuropeptide Y (NPY), et également à moduler, et de préférence à augmenter, la synthèse et la sécrétion de la somatocrinine (GRF), par rapport aux quantités préalablement administrées audit animal. L'administration de ces compositions diététiques permet donc de réduire l'appétit et de réguler le métabolisme, ce qui favorise le contrôle du poids, notamment la perte de poids et la diminution de l'obésité.
