Abstract A method of regulating room temperature ensures that the room is supplied with heat under the influence of a thermostat (13). The inherent desired value of the thermostat (13) is higher by a predetermined amount than the day-time desired value that is normally set for the occupation of a person. Electric power is also supplied during the day to a heating resistor (20) which is associated with the sensor (17) of the thermostat. The day_time desired value is therefore obtained from the setting on the thermostat (13) and the heating of the thermostat sensor (17). To achieve a regulating characteristic with a higher desired value, the supplied electric power is reduced. Means for performing this method comprise a main microprocessor (1) at a central location (Z). Depending on a desired value programme, this microprocessor delivers a series of output data (D) each comprising the address of a zone (I; II, III) and a command which characterises the electric power to be supplied to the heating resistors (17) of the thermostats (13) there located. Each zone is associated with a control apparatus (22) which, depending on the stored command, so operates at least one control element (21) that the electric power supplied to the associated heating resistor (17) corresponds to the command. This enables one to achieve novel possibilities for regulating the room temperature. Fig. 1
