A METHOD OF RENEWING THE BRICKWORK OF COKE OVENS Abstract of the Disclosure The invention relates to a method of partly re- newing the brickwork of the vertical heating flues of hori- zontal coke ovens. In heating flues near the oven ends of horizontal coke ovens, the brickwork suffers much more severe wear than the central part of the heating walls. In some cases, therefore, repairs are made only to the brickwork of the heating walls near the oven ends, up to the second, third or fourth heating flue. During rebuilding, the heating flues towards the center are left at a higher temperature and the internal parts of the oven chambers are partitioned off by vertical walls. In the method according to the invention, a vertical cut is made through the oven wall of the innermost heating flue to be repaired, and the brickwork in front is pulled down. The new parts of the oven wall are connected to the existing parts by oven bricks, which have a lug on the heating-flue side which engages over the existing oven bricks.
